Dr. Irwin (Lonny) A Noyes
Born: February 12, 1938 in Sun City, Kansas; Died February 10, 2010 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Irwin is survived by his wife Helen, his daughters Diana Noyes and Sheryl Shepherd (Anthony), his sons Steven and Gary (Pamela), grandson, William Shepherd, and sisters Patricia Muncy, Carolyn Spitler, and Jeannine Fukino , and brother John A. Noyes. Irwin was preceded in death by his daughter Paula, his parents John and Vera Noyes and brother James Noyes. He received his BS degree in math from Western State College in Gunnison, CO, a MS in Chemistry from Wayne State University and his PhD in Education from Kansas State University. Irwin dedicated his life to education; he started teaching high school math and science in Delta, CO. The family then moved to Sterling, CO where Irwin taught chemistry at North Eastern Community College. From there the family moved to Dodge City, KS where Irwin taught chemistry and was the Dean of Instruction at Dodge City Community College. In 1989 he became the Dean of Instruction at Scottsdale Community College. After retiring in May 2000 he returned to teaching chemistry part-time for five years. He loved teaching, woodworking, reading, playing games, and of course his friends and family. He and Helen enjoyed hiking, camping, and exploring Arizona and the surrounding states. Irwin was active in his church and enjoyed using his hobbies for all to enjoy. He and his wife Helen spent their summers at their cabin in Forest Lakes AZ, where Irwin was known for his community involvement.
