On February 18, 2010, Betty went to sleep here on earth and woke up in the arms of Jesus. She was surrounded by her family who loved her so dearly. Betty Mitchell was born in Springer, OK, on May 31, 1928, to Ulan and Ruby (Kuntz) Mitchell. She is survived by her loving husband, Jurden Brunken, and her two children, Dan Brunken and his wife Karen of Scottsdale and Prescott, AZ, and Jiletta Ryan of Scottsdale, AZ, and Kauai, HI. She was the proud grandmother of Kelly, Mitch, and Grant Ryan. Betty has two sisters, Jo Tierney and her husband Norb of Decorah, IA, and Latsy Parker and her husband Jess of Mesa, AZ.
On November 22, 1946, Betty’s high school was released early to attend Betty and Jurden’s wedding in Hobart, OK. Their wedding picture was featured in the high school yearbook. After establishing themselves in Snyder, TX, for twelve years, they moved to Scottsdale, AZ, in1967. Betty was completely devoted to her husband of sixty-three years, children, grandchildren and extended family. She and Jurden built a cabin in Munds Park and alternated living between there and Scottsdale through the years. They enjoyed a dream-like relationship rarely seen among couples as they traveled, sought adventure and built lasting friendships in both communities. She enjoyed hiking, playing bridge, seeing new places and celebrating life with her family and friends.
A woman of remarkable physical beauty, she also had an inner beauty. Her calmness and faith in the Lord drew people to her, especially children. As Miss Betty the Sunday school teacher, she shared her faith and provided unconditional love to many children. She was lovingly called BB by her grandchildren and Aunt BB by her nieces and nephews. With her beautiful smile, energy and unwavering enthusiasm, she enhanced every gathering. Absolutely
