Dr. Lloyd T. Lorbeer, 87, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away March 5, 2010. Lloyd was born on October 10, 1922 in Pomona, CA. He received degrees from Pomona College, Northwestern Medical University, USC and also attended UCLA and ASU. He was a life long learner and attained a specialty degree in preventative medicine.
Dr. Lorbeer was a Captain in the U.S. Army stationed on the front lines in Korea where he was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism.
He had a general medical practice in LA, and then became a medical director with Lockheed Aircraft. He went on to become the ATT medical director in Phoenix, AZ.
In addition, Lloyd was a draftsman and also a published author. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and enjoyed boating, traveling, horses, dancing, the ocean, astronomy, Civil War history and summers in Encinitas, CA. There is a school in Diamond Bar, California named after the Lorbeer family.
He married his beloved wife, Dorothy, on October 2, 1948. They were married 61 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Richard (Linda) Lorbeer, Terry (Dave) Watson and Jack (Catherine) Lorbeer; six grandchildren, Stafford (Kari) Smith, Bryan Smith, Marisa Lorbeer, Cameron Lorbeer, Julia Lorbeer, Steven Lorbeer and two great grandchildren, Stella and Sadie.
There will be a private interment in San Diego, CA with Military Honors.
