Nancy Keil, Manager, Messinger Indian School Mortuary, Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer, is a graduate of the Miami-Dade College of Mortuary Science Program, Miami, FL. She has been a Licensed Funeral Director since 1982 and served her internship in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and joined Messinger Mortuaries in 1988. Nancy was born and raised in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and lives with her husband Keith, son Matt, and daughter Erika in Scottsdale, AZ. She and her family are members of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Nancy is a member of the 100 Club of Arizona. She is active in the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Ride for a Cure. Nancy is a past committee member of the National Funeral Director’s Association, past board member of Arizona Funeral Director’s Association and past chairperson of the Continuing Education Committee for the Arizona State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers.
Derek Beach, Assistant Manager, Messinger Indian School Mortuary, Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer, joined Messinger Indian School Mortuary in 2005. He attended the University of Oregon, Arizona State University and is a graduate of the Carsten Academy of Cosmetology, Tempe, AZ and Mesa Community College of Mortuary Science, Mesa, AZ. Derek is an Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America, member of the Desert Botanical Gardens.
William R. “Bill” Gumbert, Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer, attended Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ and is a graduate of the California College of Mortuary Science, Los Angeles, CA. He has been serving families in the Phoenix area for 47 years and a funeral director with Messinger Indian School Mortuary since 1998. He has three sons, and one grandson. Bill is a member of the Paradise Valley Silver Trowel Masonic Lodge #29, Phoenix, AZ, the Scottish Rite of FreeMasonry, S.J. Phoenix, AZ, El Zaribah Shrine, Phoenix, AZ, Phoenix Rotary Club #100, and the Executives Association of Greater Phoenix. His community involvement includes the Cancer Ball of Phoenix, AZ, Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, AZ and I.F.A.D.D. (International Foundation for Anti-cancer Drug Discovery.)
David Raaen, Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer, has been affiliated with Messinger Indian School Mortuary since 1998. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BS in Mortuary Science. He was born in North Dakota and has resided in Phoenix since 1985.
Brian McBride, Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer since 1973 attended the University of Nebraska and the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. He has been with Messinger Indian School Mortuary since 2001. Prior to moving to Arizona he owned and operated three funeral homes in northeast Nebraska. He and his wife, Ellie, have three children and seven grandchildren.
Tom Carrick, Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer, has been with Messinger Indian School Mortuary since 2002. He is a graduate of the Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Chicago, IL. He has both a BA and MA in history from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, IL. Tom has been associated with the funeral industry since 1963 and co-owned his own funeral home in Phoenix for 14 years.
Michelle Horton, Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer, is a graduate of Mesa Community College School of Mortuary Science and has been a funeral director with Messinger Mortuary since 2004. Michelle grew up in Southern California and currently lives in Mesa, AZ.
William Garriott, CFSP, Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer, has been with Messinger Indian School Mortuary since 2008 providing service to the public at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary since 2000. Bill is a graduate of Iowa Lakes Community College and holds an AAS degree from Mesa Community College, School of Mortuary Science. Bill was born in Wayne, Nebraska and raised in Iowa. He and his wife, Janelle, have three children, Abby, Nicholas and Jack. They reside in Chandler, AZ. Bill obtained his Eagle Scout status in 1992.
Jim Vickers, Director of Advanced Funeral Planning, Licensed Funeral Director, has been with Messinger Mortuaries since 1994. He was born in Ohio and attended Ashland University and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Mortuary Science in 1962. In 1979, he graduated from Notre Dame College of Retail Merchandising. He has three sons and three grandchildren. He and his wife live in Scottsdale, AZ. Jim is a member of the Arizona Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association and serves on their Membership Resource Committee. He is also a member of the Verde Vaqueros, the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce and the East Valley Networking Association. He and his wife are members of The Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church.
