Armand Dion, 87, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on March 12, 2019, due to complications from influenza. Armand was born September 26, 1931, in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada to Henry and Louise Dion. He was the eldest of 5 children and graduated from St. Augustine Catholic High School, Richmond, Michigan in 1950. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning home he started a career as a professional photographer and played the accordion in a polka band, and while performing one evening, he met his wife to be. Armand married Georgene Holdsworth in 1958 and they shared 61 years of marriage. They were blessed with one son, David. Armand went on to a new career in the life insurance business and eventually into financial planning, which leads him and his wife to leave Michigan and move to Arizona in 1990. Armand and Georgene were involved in two Catholic parishes over the years – St. Maria Goretti and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, both in Scottsdale. Armand became an advocate and a promoter of the Feast of Divine Mercy devotion as set forth by Sister Faustina. In the year 2000, Armand and Georgene traveled to Rome to attend the canonization of now St. Faustina. His efforts made many people at both parishes aware of the spiritual benefits that may be obtained through this devotion. Armand loved being involved with the Church and in his later years took on organizing the annual retreat for the Men's Club of O.L.P.H., and continued promoting the Divine Mercy. Armand is survived by his wife Georgene, son David, sister Carolyn, and brother Dennis. His viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at Messenger Indian School Memorial from 5 pm to 8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm.
