Billy Joe Shell of Payson, Arizona passed away on April 8, 2018 at the age of 81. Bill was born in Jonesboro, Tennessee, the oldest child of S.B. Shell and Ina Treadway Shell. He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother Samuel. He is survived by Joyce Fields Shell his loving wife of 58 years; two sons Jeffrey and his wife Catherine and Randy and his wife Laura and four grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr., Emma, Megan and Matthew, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by a sister Jane and her husband George Pullara and a number of nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law Phyllis Shell and Faye Fields. He enlisted in the Army and trained in North Carolina. After his time in the Army, Bill became an ironwork-er and in 1959 moved his family to Michigan where he oversee major construction projects around the U.S. including the Palace in Auburn Hills, MI where the Detroit Pis-tons played.
At the age of 53, Bill retired and spent many years living on Lake Huron in Augres, Michigan fishing and hunting. In 2000, Bill and Joyce moved to Payson, Arizona to continue their retirement. Bill had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. He loved his Lord and savior Jesus Christ and was a member of Ponderosa Bible Church.
