Bruce Douglas Harding passed away on 3-14-19 after a long illness in Scottsdale, AZ, at the age of 72. He was the son of the late Herbert Douglas Harding and Viola Miller Harding of Phoenix.
Bruce was a native of Scottsdale, AZ, moving there in 1957. He attended Scottsdale High School and Arizona State University, majoring in Architecture.
Bruce began his career in commercial Fire Protection Consulting and was considered a top consultant in his field in Phoenix. Bruce worked with Grainger Consulting Fire Protection Engineers, in Mesa, AZ, and subsequently owned his own business, Hydrofire Consultants, working on many regional malls, such as Superstition Mall, Chandler Mall, Scottsdale Fashion Square, Prescott Mall, Arrowhead Mall, and various commercial projects in Arizona, as well as other states. Clients included Motorola, Intel, IBM, and General Instrument. He was active in the Arizona Society of Fire Protection Engineers, Arizona Fire Code Committee and Arizona Fire Protection Contractors Association in the 80’s and 90’s and early 2000’s.
Bruce moved to Fountain Hills, AZ, in 1978 (the early years of Fountain Hills) with his wife, Susan, and three children. Bruce had many interests and spent his extra hours volunteering his time for Fountain Hills organizations, whether it be for the Fountain Hills Art League, the Fountain Hills Community Theater, or Jazz in the Hills, which he was co-founder.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Susan; his children Laura Monroe of Sacramento, CA; Jill Harding (Kris Utermark) of Portland, OR; Tim Harding (Erin Harding) of Portland, OR.; his mother, Viola Harding of Phoenix; brother Terry Harding (Chela Harding) of Phoenix; sister Cindy Thomas of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Hayden Stasik of Portland, OR; Brandon Monroe of Phoenix; Natalie Monroe of Sacramento, CA; and Oliver and Otis Harding of Portland, OR; and nieces and nephews.
