Paradise Valley—Heinz Brungs, 80, of Paradise Valley, Arizona passed peacefully on July 3, 2018. Heinz was born July 14, 1937 in Cologne, Germany to Heinrich and Käte Brungs. He was the youngest of seven children. His early training was with some of the great hotels of Europe, and eventually founding his own hotel consulting firm in Munich, Germany. He consulted throughout Europe and Northern Africa. It was on a trip to Arizona, in the late 1970s that he discovered what would be his most passionate project. Manufacturing and marketing Ironite, and seeing it become a national brand. For this project, Heinz was recognized with a Lifetime of Contribution and Service to the Lawn and Garden Industry.
He was proud to be a naturalized U.S. citizen, and of achieving his American dream. Having grown up in post-war Germany, he witnessed the kindness of the American troops and the American people. He had a profound love for his adopted country.
Heinz enjoyed traveling and taking his wife and daughter to visit the various places he had lived, before moving to the U.S. His favorite city was Paris, where he lived and worked in his early 20’s.
Heinz loved cooking his native food, was an avid reader, and enjoyed watching German soccer.
Heinz was a loving father and devoted husband. He lived his life with a positive attitude, endless generosity, and an appreciation for all life had given him. He was beloved and will be missed.
Heinz is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth, his daughter Kay (Kevin Laud) of Chicago and his two loyal dogs Harry and Bobby.
A private remembrance is planned. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Arizona Humane Society.
