Jayne (White) Todd passed away in her Carefree, AZ home on February 5, 2018 with family at her side. Jayne was born Christmas Eve, 1955 in Chadron, Nebraska along with twin brother Jim. She attended elementary and high school in Chadron and made life-long friendships. She moved to Phoenix with friend Virginia, and met her husband, Larry in 1979; they grew up 50 miles apart but fate brought them together in the Arizona desert they both loved. Larry’s mining career took them to homes in Nevada, Yuma, AZ; Oroville, WA; Safford, AZ; Silver City, NM and a seven-year South American adventure in Bolivia, Peru, and Chile. They moved to Carefree in 2011 where Jayne began treatment for neuroendocrine cancer, which ultimately contributed to her death, but never took her LIFE.
Jayne had a varied career: a reporter for the Chadron Record, handling customer complaints for Ramada Inns, a UPS driver, and a secretary and assistant registrar at colleges in Yuma, Silver City, and Safford. She developed a passion for community college education and obtained an associates degree from Arizona Western College and bachelors degree from Washington State University. Jayne learned Spanish in South America and nurtured friendships wherever she went; she loved visiting friends at reunions and on Facebook. She was fun loving and loved to share stories about adventures with travel and friends. Jayne never let her battle with cancer stop her from living life to the fullest and looking at each day with a smile and unrelenting positive attitude.
Jayne is survived by her husband Larry Todd of Carefree, AZ, sister Jackie White of Englewood, CO, brother Jim White (Liz) of Scottsdale, AZ, nephew Cadet James White of West Point, NY; step-father Marvin Bone (Jennie) of Englewood, CO, in-laws, nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, May 27th in Chadron. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
