Kevin Shaw Jones, died on June 6, 2018.
He was born on May 1, 1951 to Russell and Jacqueline Jones in Salina, Kansas.
He was raised in Ellsworth, KS and later Salina, KS. He was a 1969 graduate of Salina High School where he excelled in a number of sports, including football, basketball and track. He also loved being in school theatre.
Kevin attended Kansas State University graduating with a degree in Biology and later earning his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Wichita State University. While at KSU he played football and remained a passionate supporter of the team, becoming a Golden Cat and a season ticket holder for many years.
After owning a Physical Therapy practice for several years, he worked in the oil and gas industry, as President of Beredco, and was then co-owner of Braden-Deem, Inc. at the time of his death.
Kevin lived with his wife, Sherry in Scottsdale, Arizona for the past twenty years. Kevin loved K-State football, golf, traveling and motorcycle riding. He visited over 100 destinations in 58 countries in the last 20 years.
He was an active professional and community volunteer with the Wichita Wagonmasters, Wichita River Festival, PAWS, Cordillera Motorcycle Association, Wichita Ronald McDonald House, KIOGA, and more. He was honored to serve as Admiral Windwagon Smith XIX.
He was best known for his charismatic personality, friendship, love of travel and telling of a good story. He was a wonderful father and took great pride in being “Coach” to his three grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father, Russell, he is survived by his mother, Jacqueline (Jackie) Jones of Salina, his wife, Sheryl (Sherry) of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter Melissa Neff (Nick) and grandson Kasen, of Lenexa, KS, son Joshua B. Jones(Kim), and grandson Chase and granddaughter Avery of Urbandale, IA., brother Lee Jones (Sue)of Topeka, KS, and brother, Kelly Jones (Gloria)of Wichita, KS, and sister, Rhys Miller(Neil) of Walnut Creek, CA.
A public memorial service will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina, KS on June 18, 2018 at 2 pm.
