Larry J. DeBlassie, age 83, was welcomed into Heaven’s Arms as he passed peacefully on October 4, 2018. He was born May 7, 1935 in Albuquerque, NM and was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sr. and Adela DeBlassie; and his brothers Paul Jr., Donald and Dr. Richard DeBlassie. Larry is survived by his wife Barbara DeBlassie, the Love of his life for 65 yrs; his loving daughter Barbara and husband David; his cherished granddaughter Ashleigh and husband John; his precious sister Betty Salazar and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Larry graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Albuquerque, NM; he subsequently served in the National Guard, married and moved to Phoenix, AZ with his wife and daughter in 1956. Larry was known for his strong work ethic, and was a devoted employee/Parts Department Manager for Chrysler/Plymouth and Toyota/Lexus for over 50 years. Larry had a strong Catholic Faith and deeply loved his family and friends. He will be remembered most for his caring, respectful and loving manner in which he treated every person he encountered. A viewing will be held at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, Scottsdale, AZ on Wednesday October 17, 2018, between 5-7pm, followed by a Rosary. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday October 18, 2018, 1:00pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 706 E. Bell Rd. Ste 200, Phoenix, AZ 85022, StJude.org, are welcome and appreciated. Immediately following mass all are invited to Pomelo, 7100 N. 12th Street, Phoenix AZ. The reception will be on the east patio.
