Mavis Marie Konjevich

May 9, 1937 ~ December 27, 2019 (age 82)

Mavis Marie Konjevich, 82, passed away on the night of 12/27/19 at her home while her son Stephen held her hand at her bedside speaking gently to her.   Doctors had been treating her chronic conditions for years and she had annual physicals.  But, on 12/13/19 she learned she had stage 4 lung cancer which had spread to her lower spine and entered hospice care.

Father Dragomir Tuba of the St. Save Serbian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, AZ gave her the Last Rites of the Eastern Orthodox religion before her death and performed graveside services.  Mavis was laid to rest on 1/3/20 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix in Section 78 Number 431, as will be her loving husband, Peter.

Mavis was a beautiful, beautiful person inside and out.  A devoted wife and mother with a deep, abiding, unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ.  Charming, witty, entertaining (loved to have dinner guests), intelligent, well-read, loved music, loved to cook and dance - and, in fact, frequently danced while cooking in the kitchen and teaching her daughter April to dance at the same time;  great smile and sense of humor, loved all in nature, a true patriot with a deep love for America  -- an all around great person who will be missed by so many that knew her.  She and her husband traveled throughout the United States and countries circling the globe -- her favorite -- the holy sites in Israel.  But, she was always happy to get home be it Joliet, Honolulu or Scottsdale -- home to her own bed, her own kitchen, her own surroundings.   And now -- she is truly home with God.

She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel & Inger Todd (Christiensen) of Joliet, IL, her sister Shirley Gans of Detroit, MI and brothers Fred Rochenbach and Thomas Todd both of Joliet, IL. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Peter Konjevich of Scottsdale, AZ; her son Stephen Konjevich of New Lenox, IL; her daughter April Baker of Platteville, WI; three grandsons/ Steven Konjevich Jr. of Dwight, Ill, Nicholas Baker of Madison, WI, SSGT Ryan Konjevich of Fort Bragg, NC; two granddaughters Stephanie Dowdle of Minooka, IL, and Amy Konjevich of Chicago, IL; three great grandsons Bryson Dowdle of Minooka, IL, Ryan Konjevich, Jr. of New Lenox, IL and David Konjevich of Dwight, IL; and a sister Judy Yandura of Joliet, IL.
