Patricia Thompson of Scottsdale Arizona was 88 years old when she passed away peacefully on July 15, 2019. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was born May 10, 1931 in Crawford, Nebraska to Eleanor and John Varvel. She was the second youngest of six children and graduated from Igloo High School in 1949. She married Pete Thompson in Igloo, South Dakota on July 7,1951 and celebrated 68 years of marriage together. They had one daughter, Cyd, and highly valued time together with family and friends. Patricia worked at La Mesa/Spring Valley School District supporting teachers and students. She loved working with children, and they loved her. Patricia was a consummate baker and enjoyed making life delicious for her family and friends. Her pies were legendary! She also enjoyed puzzles, quilting and crocheting warm and lovely afghans. Patricia was most happy in the company of her two grandchildren whom she passed on the love of cooking and curling up with a cozy book. Patricia is survived by her husband Pete, daughter Cyd and grandchildren Vince and Ellyn. She is best remembered for her steadfast love and faith in God and humanity. Her constant devotion to family and friends was forever her hallmark. Patricia’s smiling blue eyes and warm hugs reassured and comforted us all.
