Anne (Morran) Fagan of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley’s Sherman Home in Phoenix on February 11, 2020. Anne was born on St. Patrick’s Day in New York City in 1937 and grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens. Anne’s parents, Thomas and Mary Morran, were immigrants from Scotland and were loving parents to their young family of 5 children, including Anne. When she was just 6 years old during the World War II years, Anne and her family suffered the tragic loss of their father. As the second oldest of the Morran siblings, Anne greatly assisted her mother and grandmother in providing care to the rest of the Morran children.
Anne was a proud graduate of St. Joan of Arc elementary school in Jackson Heights and Saint Michael’s Academy in Manhattan, graduating high school soon after her 17th birthday. After high school, Anne attended Hunter College in New York City and went on to work for several years at K.A. Schuhle Company in Manhattan.
Anne met her future husband, Tom, in Jackson Heights, Queens. They married in 1966 and started their family with the births of Thomas, Jr. and Sheila. In the 1970s, they moved to the borough of Little Silver on the Jersey Shore where they lived for the next 20+ years. During those years, Anne was an active mom in her children’s lives and spent her summers with the family at the Sands and Ship Ahoy beach clubs in Sea Bright. She’ll always be remembered for her wonderful flower gardens, long walks in the evening with our family dog, “Chrissy,” a love of her Scottish heritage and travels to visit her grandchildren across the country.
In the mid-1990s, Anne and Tom retired to Richmond, Virginia where they lived for the next 20+ years. In 2015, they relocated to Scottsdale where she loved the beauty of the Sonoran Desert and the year-round sunny weather.
Anne was recently predeceased by her husband of nearly 54 years, Thomas Fagan, as well as her parents Thomas and Mary Morran, and siblings John and Jane. She is survived by her son Thomas Fagan, Jr. and daughter-in-law Claudine Fagan of Scottsdale and her daughter Sheila Bobrowitz and son-in-law Dr. Jeffrey Bobrowitz of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She’s also survived by her 5 loving grandchildren Gabriella, Michael, Isaac, Willow and Jocelyne.
Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary in Scottsdale. A visitation for family is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on February 12th at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary followed by a Catholic funeral service. Interment is scheduled afterwards at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice of the Valley’s Sherman Home for their compassionate care of mom. Although small in stature, Anne was large in spirit. We’ll all miss your love and advice, Grandma Anne!
