Bercie Eleanor Nowlin passed away on June 7, 2022 following a lengthy illness. Born on June 21, 1933, she was told her entire childhood by her mother that she brought summer into her life. Called Sammy Jane until her mother (Bercie) passed away, she was a force to reckoned with. She was the 5th daughter of the 5th daughter, and said she "knew things" which she demonstrated by timely life and business decisions.
Bercie was bossy, opinionated, argumentative, and was ingenious. Conversely, she exhibited loyalty, caring, patience, and a basic kindness which was reciprocated with love by those who knew her best. She was an honest and shrewd business woman and would enact plans to entice unethical or dishonest vendors to shoot themselves in the foot. She was multitalented, fun loving, a musician, a teacher and a guidance counselor. She loved golf and tolerated fishing. She expertly managed the continuing education service for nurses for 30 years, personally assisting those last-minute procrastinators with their license renewals. She served one enlistment in the Air Force during the Korean War, which was a source of pride to her. She is survived by her spouse of 55 years, Marilynn.
