Obituary

Beverly Dreessen Ladehoff (age 90) passed away at Silverstone Care Center on August 28, 2021. She has resided there for the past 7 ½ years as she battled failing health complicated by dementia, stroke and cancer.

She was born at Marshalltown, Iowa on May 10, 1931. Her parents, Albert and Lillian Dreessen lived on a farm near Gladbrook, Iowa. She had one brother, Dr. Donald Dreessen who died in 2013. She attended a one room rural school and later entered Gladbrook Junior High School where she graduated in 1949. She was active in 4H Club and raised black angus cattle for show and to pay her own college expenses. She attended Iowa State Teachers College where she earned a degree in teaching. She went on to teach elementary grades at Gladbrook and Tama, Iowa.

On August 1, 1951 she married Leo W Ladehoff, her high school sweetheart. He was in the US Air Force and being deployed to the Korean War. In 2021 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Beverly gave birth to a daughter, Debra Kay on July 18, 1953 at Columbus, Georgia. Debra now lives in Santa Clarita, CA with her husband, Steve.

She gave birth to a son, Lance Alan on September 8, 1959 at Lexington, KY. He now lives in Dayton, OH with his wife Mary. She had two grandsons, Leo James (deceased) and Scott Alan who lives in Dayton, OH.

Beverly was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked at various charities in hospitals as well as the Museum of Northern Arizona. She was an avid golfer, bridge player, hiker, and expert seamstress, needle pointer and knitter.

Perhaps her greatest avocation was homemaker as her husband was transferred often leaving her to find, organize and create a new home, get the kids in school and settle in.

She loved to travel the world with her husband and ventured to all parts of Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. Her favorite was to walk the beaches of Maui, Hawaii where they vacationed for many years.

She was indeed a beautiful and classy lady, a wonderful wife and mother with a ready smile for everyone.

She is survived by husband Leo Ladehoff, Daughter Debra Guiles, Son Lance Ladehoff, Grandson Scott Ladehoff.
