After a brief and painful battle with pancreatic cancer, Brantley passed away on May 16, 2022. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, to Anne P. and Robert A. Williams Jr., longtime residents of Paradise Valley.
Brantley could find humor in most any difficult circumstance, was an accomplished bluegrass banjo and guitar player, dedicated cat owner, former US Marine, law librarian, graduate of Arizona State University, excellent golfer and tennis player and loving family member. His “Acme Bluegrass Company” won 1st place in the Bluegrass Band competition at the 1982 Old Time Country Music Festival, Payson, AZ. He picked up a 5-string banjo in early high school and could immediately play it much like his favorite player, the icon, Earl Scruggs. Brantley and his older brother Bobby enjoyed many friends and years playing bluegrass around Arizona.
Brantley was predeceased by his parents and older brother Robert A. Williams, III. He is survived by his immediate family Rebecca (John), Jonathan, Timothy (Anne) and Binsley, an aunt, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
