Dana Michael Weller

March 5, 1964 ~ May 24, 2021 (age 57)

Dana Michael Weller, age 57, of Glendale, Arizona, passed away May 24, 2021 at home surrounded by his family and loved ones after a recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Dana was born March 5, 1964 in Long Beach, California to Dennes and Elizabeth Weller. He was the youngest of 4 children after his sisters Denise, Dawn and Debbie.  Dana was married to David Coven of Phoenix, Arizona, from September 2011 to July 2017.

Growing up in Long Beach, California, Dana attended St. Joseph Catholic School, Tincher Elementary, Hill Jr. High and graduated from Wilson High School in 1982.  It wasn’t until he was 47 that he decided on a career as a respiratory therapist.  In 2013, Dana completed a program at Pima Medical Institute and began the career he loved.

In his early years, beginning in Long Beach and continuing through his move to Arizona in 1987, Dana worked primarily in the food service industry.  During the late 90’s to the early 2000’s, he worked making countertops for Mesa Fully Formed.  After becoming a respiratory therapist Dana worked at Select Specialty Hospital and then Banner University Medical Center Phoenix.

Dana enjoyed spending time traveling, gardening, cooking, EATING and entertaining friends.  He was a long time member and advocate of AA.  This program was his saving grace.  Not only was he dedicated to maintaining his own sobriety but also to welcoming others into its fold and doing all he could to help them as well.

Dana is survived by his boyfriend Mike Ward, sisters Denise Wheeler, Dawn Weller and Debbie Skallerud; nephew Joshua Rodriguez, his wife Danielle and their three children Christian, Noah and Lola; nieces Katelyn Skallerud, Sarah Skallerud and her children Levi Grace and Eli.  Dana was predeceased by his parents Dennes and Elizabeth Weller.
