Born May 22, 1961, in South Bend, Indiana. The oldest of two children.

Parents: Diane was warmly welcomed in the home of Rolland and Anne Poehlman. She was an adopted baby to loving parents. Both parents have passed on.  Rolland was from Skokie Il and a graduate of Northwestern University, Chicago.  Anne Poehlman was a native of Philadelphia.

Guy Poehlman is Diane’s only surviving sibling, he resides in Cincinnati OH with wife Julie.

Diane relocated to Montgomery (Cincinnati), Ohio at the age of five years old.

High School: 1979 Graduate of Sycamore High School. Montgomery, Ohio

Honors include 1977 District gymnastic champion, two-time Homecoming Queen (two high schools), three-year Flyerette (Dance/Cheerleader), Honor Roll, Two-year member Young Life (Global Christian Organization)

College: Graduate of The Ohio State University Bachelor of Arts, Major in Communication, Minor in Art History and French.  Scarlet Stepper Drill team, Member of Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority. Studied semester in France, Au pair in Cannes, France. 

Work: After graduation she was employed at Estée Lauder, Perfumes International Sales Representative and Niemen Marcus Perfume Department Manager. 

Married: 1989 in Cincinnati OH to Matthew T Houlihan. They had three children.

Wife: Matt wrote to Diane on their 30th anniversary, he was the most blessed man in the world.  He was fortunate to marry the love of his life and the most beautiful woman in the world at the same time. Very few men are so blessed to have a wife like you.

Mother: Diane devoted her time to the proper raising of her three children. She spent years as a soccer mom driving her children, along with other children, to school, tennis, soccer, basketball, cub scouts, baseball, church, and urgent care. She was immensely proud of her children.

Daughter Jessica age 29, is married to Dr. Ge Yuan and resides in Fremont CA. Jessica is a Magna cum laude Graduate of ASU with BS, and holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Organic Chemistry from Yale University, School of Medicine and is attending Stanford University School of Medicine on a part time basis.

Diane’s two sons are M. Casey Houlihan age 24, and Cameron R Houlihan age 21 both of Phoenix AZ.  Diane loved her boys.  One of her favorite activities was to discuss and debate current events with her sons. Her boys would pace the floor during their discussions while she challenged them from her command post on the sofa.

Grandmother: One grandson, age 26 months. Theodore Matthew Yuan of Fremont CA. “Boo Boo” was the light of Diane’s life. Spending time with her grandson was her favorite activity over the last years of her life.  She was never happier than the time spent with Boo.

Travel: Diane loved to travel. She and the family traveled to Europe and Asia on more than one occasion. Her favorite cities were Paris and Hong Kong.

Co organized and taught grade school children’s youth group, New Hope Church, Dublin Ohio. Volunteer mother at Columbus School for Girls, Columbus OH.

French teacher at Boulder Creek High School, Anthem AZ, Voted teacher of the month. Organized Fashion Club, Travel Club and French Club. She put considerable effort into the well-being of her students. They came from all backgrounds.

Volunteer Women’s Bible study in Anthem, Girl Scout Den leader, taught Bible Study for children every Sunday at Cross of Christ Church.

Legacy: Diane is most remembered for her beauty inside and out, her loving spirit and kindness to all she met. Diane offered encouragement and love to those she came across. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her loving spirit and legacy will live on through her family and her many friends.
