Obituary

Gary L. Zancanelli Jr. loved his family, he had a big heart and a big personality, and if you knew him, truly, you could not help but love him.

He was born in San Francisco, California and raised in Santa Rosa, California by his parents Gary Sr. and Arlene, with his two sisters, Gina and Dina.  There he met and married his beloved wife & soulmate, Julie, who has been his best friend and partner in life.  Together they raised their three children Kristin, Mikayla and Gary III with the values he held so closely:

  • Be honest, always.
  • Have faith in God, in yourself and in those you love.
  • Pursue excellence in everything you do.
  • Find your passion and let that be your life’s work.
  • Never give up.

Gary was a deep thinker, and studied what he did not understand.  He was an athlete, loved golf, being outdoors, and above all he loved being with his friends and family.  His close ties with friends and family defined him.  He valued his relationships with others, and being a father, husband, son, brother, friend & colleague was most important in his life.  He did not want to let anyone down, including himself, because he viewed his own importance in terms of the relationships he held with others.  He nurtured growth and change in others, and reveled in their successes because to him, that was his success too.  He was immensely proud of his children, and let them know that.  He had big dreams for each of them because he knew they could and would achieve them.

Gary is gone far too soon; we must all remember that our lives are much richer and brighter because they were touched by his.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Gary's name to Kansas City Catholic Charities
