Scottsdale – Gerald “Jerry” Schommer, 91, of Scottsdale, AZ went to be with Jesus on July 6, 2021. Jerry was born April 29, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Felix and Gertrude. Jerry and his late wife Patricia, enjoyed life and were blessed to travel together all over the world. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald (Margie) and sisters, Marilyn Lucca (Nicholas) and Juanita Bernauer. He was survived by longtime friend and brother-in-law Norbert Bernauer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A carpenter by trade, he built his homes in Illinois and Colorado; where he and Pat owned their own business. They moved to Arizona where he worked as an estimator for the City of Scottsdale. What brought Jerry the most joy was traveling, hiking and exercising. He was proud to serve his country as a Marine in the Korean War. He was faithful to his church, St. Patrick Catholic Community of Scottsdale. Jerry will be most remembered for his caring, patient and loving disposition. He worked hard, listened with an intent to understand, he respected and treated every person he encountered with kindness. God blessed Jerry with a contagious laugh, for which he will always be remembered. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Community 10815 N. 84th St., Scottsdale on Friday July 23 at 11am.
