Obituary

James “Jim” Eyler passed away on July 8, 2022 at the age of 71 after a battle with cancer. Jim was born in Globe, AZ to Daisy and Carl Eyler. He was an Arizona native - grew up in Holbrook, spent most of his adult life in the Phoenix/Mesa area, and eventually retired in Payson. Jim graduated from Holbrook High School in 1968. Jim worked most of his career at APS and retired from the Ocotillo Power Plant in 2014.

Throughout his life, Jim became an avid fisherman.  His favorite place was on a boat at the lake. He enjoyed taking all of his friends and family to the lake, whether it was fishing, waterskiing, tubing, camping, or even cliff jumping.  

Jim was preceded in death by his mother Daisy, father Carl, brother Bill, and wife Monica. Jim is survived by a son Michael Eyler (Alicia), a daughter Jamie Lundquist (Alex), stepdaughter Jennifer Zakaras (Greg), stepson Rich Gonderman (Christy); four grandchildren, Nat Zakaras, Oliver Zakaras, Elliot Lundquist, and Adam Lundquist; a brother Gary Eyler (Pat); and a large extended family.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jim’s life at Messinger Funeral Home at 901 S. Westerly Rd. in Payson, AZ on Saturday, August 6th at 11am.
