On Saturday, September 3, 2022, Joanna S. Caretto-Frazier, passed away at the age of 75 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Joanna and her twin brother Joseph “Joe” were born on August 12, 1947 in Gallup, New Mexico, to Albert and Anna (Plesê) Caretto. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965, and then went on to earn a cosmetology license from Heights Beauty College in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She spent close to 40 years as a hairstylist, and owned two beauty salons, “Hair Affair” in Gallup and Albuquerque. Joanna met the love of her life, Terry Frazier, they married in August of 2003, and shortly after they moved to Kentucky. In 2014, Joanna relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona to be closer to family.
Joanna was a loving daughter, twin-sister, cousin, sister-in-law, aunt, stepmother, and friend. Praised by her family and friends for her sophisticated sense of style, Joanna was known for always being perfectly dressed for any event. More significantly, Joanna was known for being thoughtful, kind, outgoing, and for being a devoted friend who enjoyed helping others in need. Joanna was very proud of her Italian and Croatian heritage and enjoyed the native food and traditions. Joanna was a dedicated, doting, and caring aunt to her two nieces Jodele Plunkett and Brandi Caretto, who she referred to as her “babies.” Joanna was often known as, “Aunt Joann”, to many. She was also close to many friends and family members whom she would visit with daily. Admired for her sweet and kind nature and her resilience in the face of hardship, Joanna’s loss will leave an immeasurable hole in the hearts of her family and friends.
Joanna is survived by her nieces-Jodele (Chris) Plunkett, Brandi Caretto; great nephew and nieces-JoJo, Carlin, Cienna Plunkett; sister in law- Anita “Skeeter” Caretto; stepdaughters- Melanie Bruton, Tara Jo Dickinson; and many cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents-Albert (1964) and Anna Plesê (1981) Caretto; twin brother-Joseph “Joe” Caretto (1998); husband-Terry Frazier (2010).
Memorial services will take place at 11 AM on September 22, 2022 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, 10755 N 124th St, Scottsdale, Arizona 85259. Reception immediately following at church social hall.
