Joe Lester Cullum: August 27, 1930 - July 16, 2020

Wilma Louise Cullum (Jones): December 18, 1931 - May 3, 2020

Joe L. Cullum, 89, and Wilma L. Cullum, 88, recently passed away in their sleep just weeks apart. While it has been difficult to say goodbye to our cherished parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, sister, aunt, uncle, cousin and dear friend, our family takes comfort in the knowledge that they are together again for eternity, watching over those who meant so much to them. We are grateful to have been able to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with them just a few months ago. Joe and Wilma are survived by their daughter, Ranae, son Rod and daughter-in-law Kim; grandchildren Myles Ferger, Travis Ferger, Lindsay Cullum Colwell (Paul), Brad Cullum (Stephanie); great-grandchildren Devlin, Davina and Dalyla Ferger, Annaleigh and Brendan Colwell, and Bryce Cullum; Wilma’s sisters Roxie Hawkins (Claude), and Carolyn Overstreet (John); nieces, nephews, cousins and all extended family members; Art and Nita Colwell, and Peter and Janna Hosmer. They were preceded in death by their beloved son Randy, Joe’s parents Cloyd and Hattie Cullum, his sister Maxine Clinkenbeard and her husband Glen, and Wilma’s parents Alvis and Clara May Jones. Joe and Wilma’s life journey took them from the farmlands of Missouri to the deserts of Arizona, with many stops along the way. They moved to Arizona in 1971 to develop the Arizona franchise of Dairy Queen, which they established and grew throughout the state. Among the many things they enjoyed doing together, the years spent visiting their cabin in Pinetop with family and friends was something they especially cherished. Their greatest joy was their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. School activities, arts & crafts, ball games, making fudge for the holidays, and trips to the tall pines are just a few of the things that provided lots of opportunities for Joe and Wilma to spend time with the family they loved so much. Joe and Wilma were longtime members of Scottsdale United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scottsdale United Methodist Foundation in memory of Joe and Wilma Cullum, 4140 North Miller Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. A private family memorial service will take place in the near future.
