Lois A. McAnallen (née Mundhenk, Hart), died on November 11, 2021. She was 83.
Lois was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 31,1938 to Harold and Dorothy Mundhenk. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956. Lois was a finalist in the 1957 Miss Minneapolis competition then went on to become a fashion model. In 1959, she married Garry Lee Hart and they raised 3 children. Her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh was completed in 1979. She established homes in Minnesota, Louisiana, California, Wisconsin, and spent the last 25 years of her life in Tucson Arizona.
In 1989 Lois was asked on a blind date which resulted in an adventurous 32 years with her loving and devoted husband, Joseph F. McAnallen.
Never one to sit still, Lois used her creative spirit and boundless energy to design her many gardens and share her love of flowers. She had a passion for creating art in a variety of mediums including pottery, glass, sculpture and quilting. Her eight grandchildren will cherish the personalized quilts that Lois lovingly made for each of them upon their High School graduation.
She was a devout Christian. She was proud of her 11 years as a member of Bible Study Fellowship International. Her dedication and hard work gave her an in-depth knowledge of scripture. As further examples of her faith, she was a founding member of Young Life-Oshkosh and a devoted Girl Scout Leader. She was a Global Missionary to the countries of Tanzania, Tonga, and Greece. Her endless curiosity led Lois to introduce her grandchildren to many educational adventures. Participating in grandparent/grandchild trips with an organization known as Road Scholar (formerly Elderhostel). She will be fondly remembered for her delight in sending her version of “healthy” oatmeal wheatgerm chocolate chip cookies to her family across the country. She regularly put pen to paper as her way to keep in touch with family and friends. It was a joy to receive one of her handwritten notes.
She never strayed from her strong beliefs and her unconditional love which will continue to shine through her children and grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph F McAnallen; her 3 children, Pamela (Daniel) Reinhold, Diane (William) Flood, and Robert (Jill Thomas) Hart; and her 8 grandchildren Morgan (Sarah), Taylor, and Ella Kimberly, Hannah and Tracy Flood, Zachary, Maxwell, and Mae Hart, along with her new great granddaughter, Agnes P. Kimberly. She is further survived by step children; Mitch (Anne) McAnallen, Robin McAnallen, Donna McAnallen, Cindy Vieira; and her special cousin Susan Casey.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, her parents, brothers Richard and Harry Mundhenk, step son, Orlo McAnallen and step son in-law, Joe Vieira.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
