Meredith Conn Watters
Scottsdale – Meredith Watters passed away peacefully at Honor Health Shea Hospital on June 15, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born on November 17, 1946, in Burlington, Iowa, and raised there by her parents, Blythe and Gladys Conn. Her family then moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she attended Roosevelt High School. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1969 and married her husband Jeffrey Watters. They moved to Evanston, Illinois where she found a position as a special education teacher while he finished medical school. The couple relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan where she obtained her Master’s degree, to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and then settled in Des Moines, Iowa where they raised their children. She supported their many activities including the Odyssey of the Mind competitions where her teams competed at national levels. She was a lifelong horsewoman and enjoyed participating in hunter/jumper events, fox hunting in England and Ireland, and competing in dressage competitions, especially after moving to Scottsdale in 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents Blythe and Gladys, her brother Christopher Conn, and son Bradley Joseph Watters. She is survived by her husband Jeff, son Christopher (Elaine) and daughter Elyse. She will be remembered as an active and enthusiastic woman who always wanted to explore new and different experiences, a talented cook, a nature and animal lover, and an outstanding wife and mother. A memorial service will be held at Messinger Mortuary in Scottsdale (Pinnacle Peak) on Saturday, September 10, at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Foothills Animal Rescue of Scottsdale.
