He was the beloved husband of late Millie Reitmeyer of 69 years; loving father of John (Gayle), Michael (Sandy), William, Denise Karstensen (Dean), late Patrick, Renee Schroyer (Douglas); adored grandfather of Jennifer, Michael, Joey, AJ, Sean, Dustin, Makenzie, Stephanie, Alexis, Dana, Randy, Nicole, Ben, Brittany & Brandon; and doting great-grandfather of Jake, Phoebe, Seth and Sammy; he was also a dear brother, uncle and friend. Bob loved enjoying life, loved his family, and sports. He attended Wright College for mechanical engineering design. He worked for 40 years for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Chicago as a mechanical designer. In 1951 he married his gal and together they had and raised 6 kids. He championed his children to their true potential in life. He insured all his children had the opportunity and means to attend college of their choice. Dad was highly engaged in his children’s lives. Dad coached his kids little league teams and loved playing catch with them after work. All of his kids were athletes and sports fanatics which made for a very fun loud house during any Bears or Cubs game. He was also a strong proponent of making scouts a part of his boys life. He promoted and supported his 4 boys through the ranks of scouting up to Eagle Scout. River canoe trips, the Klondike derby and Pinewood derby were a few of his favorite scouting events. It was all about being present, having fun and experiencing life with his family. Every summer the family would take a vacation to northern Wisconsin and stay on a lake to fish, water ski and hit the local casino. His passion for fishing spread through the family. Today his boys continue the annual trip to the northern lakes. In his later years mom and dad would travel to Arizona where three of their children lived and vacation for the winter. There he would golf, go swimming and take the occasional trip to Las Vegas. Dad loved watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears and any Western movie or show especially if the star was John Wayne. He lived a long full life with many friends and family members that loved him deeply. He will be greatly missed. Dad passed away in Arizona surrounded by family.
