E. C. “Chuck” Waggoner

A special man has departed for a better place where the streets are paved with gold and he’s reunited with many others who have gone ahead of him. Chuck was born January 20, 1937 and adopted as an infant by a single woman. She did a fantastic job of raising Chuck and his adopted brother Dick. Chuck was raised in Tucson, where he enjoyed the sunshine, freedom to hike and roam the surrounding hills.

After college, Chuck worked the summers in Colorado for the U.S. Forest Service which gave him a love for that state. He was working at the Arapaho Ski Basin when God brought him together with his wife Sunnie whom he married in 1966. Together they had a son, Ben and a daughter, Erica.

Chuck’s career with the Forest Service allowed the family to live Colorado, Oregon and Washington. After he retired in 1992 and all of the kids had moved out, Chuck and his wife, Sunnie moved back to Colorado for 9 years before returning to Washington again. The fourteen years in Chehalis, WA were a special delight for them.

Ultimately, the Lord had them move to Arizona where they found the place God wanted them to enjoy in Fountain Hills. Chuck’s last years were unfortunately filled with more doctor visits than trips to the mountains or other scenic places. But through it all, they were at peace, knowing they were where God wanted them to be.

Chuck’s life ended peacefully on June 5, 2018. He is survived by his wife Sunnie, son Ben, Kristen his wife and their children Gabe, Grace and Gideon of Scottsdale, AZ, his daughter Erica of Lake Quinault, WA, his nephew Adam of Neah Bay, WA as well as his sister-in-law Karin Adams, her daughter Tracy of Salida, CO and son Doug, his wife Jessica and their three children of Aurora, CO. He was preceded in death by his mother Rose and his brother Dick.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at Fountain Hills Christian Center on Friday, June 8th at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Fountain Hills Christian Center Building and Maintenance fund, 16239 E Ironwood Dr., Fountain Hills, AZ 85268, Mountain View Baptist Church Camp Scholarship Fund, 1201 Belmont Ave, Centralia, WA 98531 or Veterans Memorial Museum, 100 SW Veterans Way, Chehalis, WA 98532.
