Marquita (Dill) McKnight

Marquita Leigh McKnight was born August 26th, 1954 in Topeka, KS to John and Arlys Ballinger (Alderson). The family moved to Evansdale, IA in 1954. They then moved to Dadeville, AL in 1957. Marquita along with her brother and her mother moved to Chester, NE in 1959. Her mother Arlys remarried in 1964 to Robert Dill of Belvidere,NE. She became a big sister to 2 brothers and a sister. Marquita attended school through the 8th grade in Belvidere and then went on to graduate from the Hebron High School in 1972. After graduating she married Larry Bowman of Bruning, NE in 1972. She then attended Southeast Community College in Fairbury, NE which she received her license as an LPN.

On September 20th, 1975 she was blessed with her first of 3 sons, Lenny. Then followed by son Dan on May 21st, 1977 and then the youngest son Tony on November 14th, 1978. Marquita and Larry seperated in the spring of 1984. Marquita and her sons then resided in Geneva, NE until she remarried Glen McKnight in1985 which she then welcomed 3 loving step-children Jenny, Mitchell and Mandy. In 1986 the family then moved to Omaha, NE. For her final relocation, Marquita and Glen moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ in 2000.

In Lake Havasu City, AZ she had a variety of occupations before going out and starting her own business called Impruvit Consulting. She was very active in several organizations in Lake Havasu including A Taste of Havasu, Havasu’s London Bridge Parade, Executive Director of the Havasu Balloon Festival, Havasu Community Health Foundation, Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce and her Rotary Club to name a few.

She loved coming back to Nebraska to visit her family, and especially her grandchildren.  She was surrounded by love upon her passing.

Preceding Marquita in death is her biological Father, John; Dad, Robert Dill; Nephew, Chris; Granddaughter, Mira; and Brother-in-law, Doug.

Marquita is survived by her Mother, Arlys Dill (Bill Coady) of Hebron, NE; Brother, Mark (Connie) Ballinger of Ogden, KS; Brother, Matt Dill of St. Lucia, FL;

Sister, Michele of Winters, CA; Brother, Jack (Michelle) of Fort Calhoun, NE; Sons, Lenny Bowman (Carla) of Bruning,NE, Dan Bowman of Scottsdale, AZ, Tony Bowman of Austin, TX.

Step-children; Jenny (Travis) of Colorado, Mitchell (Michelle) of Baxter, IA, Mandy (Brian) of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Nieces; Alison and Jessica

Nephew; John

Grandchildren; Jadyn and Liam Step-Grandchildren; Mikayla, Myka, and Gabrielle

Memorial service for Marquita will be set for a later date​.
