Mary Ann (Gray) Bordewick, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed on to eternal life on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Maravilla Senior Community, Scottsdale, AZ, following a long illness.
Mary Ann was born in Kankakee, IL on December 22, 1948. She graduated from St. Patrick Grade School and Kankakee Westview High School. She earned a BS in Education at Illinois State University. Mary Ann married Russell Bordewick in 1972. She taught elementary and middle school for many years and also worked with at-risk students.
Mary Ann and Russ moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 2017, after living in Naperville, IL for 23 years. Mary Ann touched many people’s lives with an infectious joy for life and an easy way with people. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and creating a beautiful home.
Mary Ann is survived by her devoted husband Russ, a daughter Carrie Nielsen, grandchildren Ryan and Lauren Nielsen, a sister Julie (Steven) Harms, and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Emmett and Betty Gray and her son-in-law Matthew Nielsen.
A private family service will be held at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. Memorials may be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration at http://www.theaftd.org.
