Barbara Worley LaPrade
Obituary
Barbara Worley LaPrade, passed away on January 17, 2023, just 4 days before her 100th birthday. She was born in Miami County Ohio, January 21, 1923. Graduated from Phoenix College and Arizona State University. As a registered nurse she was employed by Maricopa County Hospital and was School Nurse at Avondale Jr High. She was a member of Avondale Retired Teachers and Community United Methodist Church. In 1978 she was the first woman elected to serve on the Goodyear City Council. In 1993 Barbara and George moved to Tempe, AZ.
She is survived by her son, Steven LaPrade (Georgann), former son-in-law, Rob Drechsler. Grandchildren include: Daniel Dickson-LaPrade (Freya), Joy Platt (Geoffrey), Gloria Rokicki (Michael), John and Paul Drechsler and 11 great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by her husband, George L. LaPrade, daughter Leslie LaPrade, brothers Richard and Rex Worley.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27th, 2023 @ 7:00pm, at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. In lieu of flowers, any contributions may be made to the Agua Fria Food Bank, P.O. Box 845 Avondale, AZ 85323
