Carolyn Ann Clark went home to Jesus on September 8, 2021, at the age of 85. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The oldest of two children and only daughter born to Homer and Laura Bodge, Carolyn was born on December 16, 1935, in Hartford, Connecticut. Her brother Larry joined the family nearly 18 years later. At age 8, her family moved from Connecticut to Arizona where she lived until her death. As a child, she loved to ride horses with her dad and watch him pursue his love as an amateur western trick roper.
Carolyn met her husband, Alfred Isaac “Al” Clark in Phoenix, Arizona. After a short courtship, they were married in Phoenix, Arizona on December 18, 1954. They had three children: Randy, David, and Brian. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Carolyn loved playing tennis, reading, and playing card games. In 1986, following her husband’s death, she began work as an Administrative Assistant at Scottsdale Baptist Church where she continued to work until she retired in 1998.
Throughout her life, Carolyn held an unwavering faith in God. She was an active member of Scottsdale Baptist Church for many years. In 2003, when she moved to Mesa, she began attending Mesa Baptist Church. Her church family was very dear to her and she enjoyed fellowship with them. One of her most cherished memories was of her trip to the Holy Land with many of her friends from church. She loved to show photos and talk of her visit to various parts of Israel including Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
She is survived by her sons: Alfred “Randy”, David (Debi), and Brian (Linda); her grandchildren: Jennifer McManaway (David), Leslie Marshall (Joshua), James Clark, Ryan Clark, Luke Reynolds, Lauren Blum (Brandon), and Rachael Thomas (Tyler), and 14 great-grandchildren.
