Marvin N. Bowman of Carefree passed away Saturday January 8, 2022. He was born in Decatur, Illinois on July 7, 1934. While attending Monticello High School, he was very interested in oil paintings, winning several prizes. He and his high school sweetheart Shirley (Lubbers) were married 69 years and have 4 children: Janet Yarbrough (Lloyd), Rebecca Bias (Bob Patton), Joan Vandermate (Kevin) and Mark Bowman, 4 grandchildren: Amy Brunel (Ben), Sarah Yarbrough, Cody Bias (Jenny), and Trevor Vandermate, 2 great grandchildren: Grace and Aurora Brunel. Marvin worked with Midland Lab and Dupont before later founding his own company Professional Systems Supply Inc. With Professional he developed a spray system for supermarket floors and meat rooms that was highly successful. Additionally, he started a company Shirlmar where he designed and sold Black Hills Gold Jewelry to Home Shopping and QVC. After retiring, he returned to his oil painting and produced many lovely western scenes. He and Shirley had a condo on Kauai, Hawaii and enjoyed touring the U.S. and taking river boat trips in Europe. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
