Roy R Glisan

April 13, 1937 ~ April 15, 2022 (age 85)

Roy R. Glisan, known as Bob passed away peacefully on April 15, 2022 at 10:15am, just days after his 85th birthday. Bob was a beloved husband and father and career military veteran. He married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart Patricia A. Webster, and they were together for 59 years. Mom proceeded Dad in death by nearly 4 years, which he truly never recovered from his loss. However strict that dad was when we were growing up, we always knew that dad loved us. He shared his passions with his family and community. Dad loved to hunt and fish and also served on the board of the Phoenix Sportsman Association.. He taught firearm safety to adults and youth alike. He was also instrumental in helping out with the up keep and fixings at some 4H camps up at Mormon Lake, southeast of Flagstaff, Arizona. Over the years, he imparted so much wisdom to me and my brothers. Perhaps most of all, he taught us to live honorably. By trade he was a draftsman estimator for various home builders in the Valley for many years, such as cavalier homes, plus the city of Phoenix. By career he was a 32 year military vet as a pilot and aircraft mechanic for the United States Navy. His tours of duty took him to many ports of call all over the world to places like the Azors, Newfoundland, Midway, Malta, Spain, Japan, Panama, Hawaii and the Rock of Gibraltar. Most impressive was the fact he flew in personnel and supplies into Vietnam. Although a stern and brave officer, Dad had a soft teddy bear side to him. He always brought home momentum’s of his tours of many ports, back home to his family marking the reunion of his coming home. Dad’s heart further melted after the birth of 3 grandchildren. We were very blessed that he lived long enough to meet 2 great grand babies. Bob Glisan deserves his dignity and honor of laying next to the love of his life in peace and we hope to have sent him off in a deserving manner of a member of the United States Navy who so valiantly served his country, his community and his family. We love you and will miss you Dad! Rest in peace.
